When you buy a building that you want to upgrade, improve, or even change the use of, it does not always have to be with a complete demolition. If the exterior structure of the building is in a good condition and you want to keep it as is, the solution would be soft stripping.
Soft stripping is about removing very meticulously all materials the building is made of without touching its exterior structure. Everything that is not the skeleton will be removed: piping, electrical wiring, insulation, floors, ceilings, beams, etc.
Advantages of soft stripping
Flexible
Soft stripping’s main advantage is that you don’t need to demolish everything to the ground. We can do it piece by piece. This means that we can strip a floor or an entire building depending on what you plan to do.
Refreshing
If you are keeping the building’s skeleton and completely modifying the interior plans such as the configuration of the rooms, a complete stripping is needed and only the beams would be left standing.
Exploratory
It helps the general contractors or owners assess certain parts of their building without stripping it completely. This is called “exploratory demolition” aiming to expose discrepancies or specifications so you can move forward with your plans.

Mobilization
- Safety is our #1 concern. In our line of work there are no half measures, and more so regarding security and safety. Dealing with asbestos, working at heights and near high voltage are examples of high-risk tasks where protocols are strictly followed.
- A site tour is planned before we start working to make sure there are no safety issues. Daily and weekly toolbox meetings are also held to review security protocols specific to the site’s conditions.
- Structure Tone offers turnkey demolition projects that include covering all preliminary works such as shutting down site utilities (electrical, plumbing, etc.). These can also be done by your contractor to have everything ready before work starts.
